Omapodi



 Omapodi is regularly made for Diwali. Its crispy and delicious. Addition of ommam or ajwain has its health benefits too. This can be prepared as a snack since it is very easy to prepare if you have the omapodi press.
INGREDIENTS
Gram flour
3/4 cup
Rice flour
1/4 cup
Chilli powder
1tsp
Ommam/Ajwain
2tsp
Butter
1tbsp
Oil
for deep fring
Salt
To taste
Water
to form the dough
 
PREPARATION
Soak the ommam in enough water for 30 minutes. Grind it with water. Strain the water and keep aside
Mix both the flours in a broad vessel. Add chilli powder, salt, butter to this. Mix well
Now add little by little the ommam water and mix to form a dough of chapathi consistency
Now heat oil in a pan, Transfer one ball of this mixed dough into the press  with a disc which has small holes and when the oil is sufficiently hot, press it directly above the oil so that the dough comes out through the holes .
Deep fry it in medium flame for 1 minute, then flip it and deep fry for another minute
Take out the fried omapodi with a ladle with holes and drain it on a absorbent paper.

Keep it in an airtight box when completely cool
