When we make pidi kozhukkatai at home, it is always
made with raw rice. But when I saw these healthy godumai rava kozhukkatai in
Sandhya’s blog, I decided to try this and am very happy that I tried. It is definitely
tasty and healthy too.

PREPARATION
Soak the Bengal gram dal and red chillies in water
for 1/ 2hour
Grind it into coarse paste with minimum water
In a pan dry roast the broken wheat rava till a good
smell emanates.
Transfer it to a plate and let it cool down completely
Now heat the oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds. Once
this starts to splutter add the dals and asafoetida and saute for a few
seconds. Now add the curry leaves
Now add the ground paste and cook on low flame for a
few seconds.
Add the water slowly as it tends to splutter.
Add the coconut and salt. Mix well and let it boil
Once it starts boiling, reduce the flame and slowly
add the rava, mixing continuously
Cover with a plate and let it cook till all the
moisture is absorb.
This will approximately take 5 minutes
Once all the water is absorbed, switch off the fire
and let the mixture cool down
Before it cools down completely, make tight oblong
balls as shown, arrange these on the steaming plate of a steamer
Steam it for 8-10 minutes.
Let it sit for another 5
minutes for it to slightly cool down. Now transfer this to a serving dish and
serve with chutney of your choice. I served it with thakkali thokku
