Karuveppilai Thogayal



Karuvepillai or curry leaves has a lot of health benefits. You can see them here. I use curry leaves in Karivepillai kuzhambu, Karuveppilai saadam, Karuveppilai podi and Karuveppilai Thogayal.
INGREDIENTS
Curry leaves
2 cup
Fresh coconut
1/4 cup
Urad dal
2 tbsp
Red chilli
4-5
Pepper corn
1tsp
Mustard seeds
1/4 tsp
Ginger
1” piece
Sesame seeds
1 tbsp
Asafoetida
1/4 tsp
Salt
To taste
Oil
2tsp

PREPARATION
Heat oil in a pan
Add mustard seeds, urad dal, red chillies, pepper and sesame seeds.
Fry it in low flame till the dal starts to brown
Now switch off the fire and add the washed curry leaves and saute for few minutes. Let it cool completely
Now transfer this to a mixer jar, add coconut, ginger, asafoetida and salt.
Grind smoothly with minimum water

Serve with hot rice and Kootu
