Dadhiyonnam



 Dadhiyonnam  is the other name for Iyengar style curd rice. This is given as Prasadam in some of the Perumal koil/ Temple. It is the simple curd rice which is seasoned with green chillies, coriander and  mustard . The texture of this should be mushy which is achieved by mashing the hot rice with the addition of milk.
INGREDIENTS
Cooked rice
1 cup
Hot milk
1/ cup
Water
1/4 cup
Curd
3 tbsp
Asafoetida
1/4tsp
Mustard
1tsp
Green chillies
3
Corainder
2 tbsp
Ghee
2tsp


PREPARATION
Mash the hot rice with a wooden masher.
Add the milk and water and mash further so that you get a smooth texture. Let it cool completely.
Add curd and mix well
Heat oil in a pan and when sufficiently hot add mustard seeds. Once it crackles, add the green chillies and asafoetida, saute for a minute and switch off the fire.
Pour this on the prepared curd rice. Add the coriander , mix well and serve
You can add salt if necessary
Do not add too much of curd as it might turn sour
In summer it is preferable to refrigerate the curd rice or Dadhiyonnam
