Vazhakai Podi


Here is another comfort south Indian food which pairs perfectly with hot steaming rice and a little bit of ghee to enhance the taste and of course with some appalam.
INGREDIENTS
Raw Plantain
1
Black gram Dal
1 ½ Tbsp
Tuvar Dal
 1 ½ Tbsp
Red chillies
3
White sesame seeds(Optional)
2tsp
Salt
 To Taste
Asafoetida
¼ tsp
Oil
1tsp

PREPARATION
Cut the raw plantain into two pieces
Cook it in the pressure cooker up to 2 whistles
Let it cool completely. Grate it and keep aside
Heat the oil in a pan. Add the black gram Dal, tuvar Dal, red chillies and sesame seeds and fry them till the Dal starts to brown. Switch off the fire and let it cool completely
Transfer this to a mixer jar. Add salt and asafoetida. Now grind it very coarsely
Add the grated cooked plantain and grind again in short pulses

Serve with hot rice and papad
