This spice powder is delicious when had with hot rice or with curd rice.
INGREDIENTS

Blackgram dl
1tbsp
Bengal gram dal
1tbsp
Red chillies
4
Asafoetida
1/2tsp
Coriander seeds
2tsp
Tamarind
A small marble sized
Bitter gourd
2 small
Oil
1 tbsp
Mustard seeds
1tsp
Turmeric Powder
1/4tsp
Salt
To Taste

PREPARATION
Dry roast , the black gram dal, Bengal gram dal, red chillies, coriander seeds in a pan till the dal starts to brown. Switch off the fire. Let it cool completely
Add tamarind and asafoetida to this and grind it into coarse powder. Keep it aside
Cut the bittergourd and remove the seeds and pit. Now grate it and squeeze out the liquid
Heat the oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. When it begins to crackle add turmeric powder and then add the bitter gourd and cook it in very low flame, stirring regularly till it starts to become brownish
Now add the necessary salt and saute for few minutes and then add the ground spice powder. Mix well and cook for a minute more

Switch off the fire and serve with rice
