Ragi koozh


My mother is a diabetic and she makes sure that she manages to keep her sugar levels under control with regular medicines and a proper diet. One that features very regularly is this keepai koozh or ragi porridge.Earlier  it was a tedious procedure to soak the ragi and grind it at home but now we get the roasted flour called Ragi huri hittu. All you need to do is to mix it with buttermilk or yogurt  and flavourings and enjoy the drink or meal
INGREDIENTS
Ragi huri hittu         1 tbsp
Yogurt                       1 cup
Salt                             to taste
Asafoetida                a pinch
Curry leaves            few
PREPARATION
Mix the ragi flour and yougurt without anu lumps
Now add salt, asfoetida and curry leaves. Mix well and have it as a thick porridge
If you would like to have it as a drink then mix it with 2 cups of thin buttermilk and enjoy your drink!
