Curry leaves or karuveppilai is an essential ingredient in south indian cooking.The medicinal properties of curry leaves are many. It stimulates the digestive enzymes and helps to digest the food easily.

"A good remedy for nausea and indigestion. Extract juice of curry leaves, squeeze a lime and add a pinch of sugar.
- Chew a few leaves every day to lose weight
- Curry leaves are also known to improve eyesight, so make sure you do
not throw away the leaves while eating. It is also believed to prevent
cataract.
- Curry leaves are also good for hair growth and colour.
If you don't like its raw taste, you can buy the curry leaf powder
widely available in the market and have it with dosa or hot rice. You
can also make it at home. This will prevent pre mature greying of hair.
- Alternatively, you can also add a few curry leaves to your hair oil
and boil it for a few minutes. Applying this hair tonic will keep your
hair healthy
One way of including it in my daily diet is eating this thokku with curd rice.
INGREDIENTS
Curry leaves 3 cups
Tamarind 1 small lemon sized
Chilli powder 2-3 tsp
Fenugreek seed powder 1/4 tsp
Jaggery 1tsp
Oil 2tbsp
Mustard seeds 1tsp
Asafoetida 1/4 tsp
Salt to taste
PREPARATION
Soak the tamarind in warm water for 10 minutes and squeeze and take out the extract. Keep aside
Wash the curry leaves and keep aside
Grind the leaves to a smooth paste adding just enough water
Now heat the oil in a pan and when sufficiently hot add the mustard seeds.
When it starts to crackle, add the ground paste , mix well and cook in low flame
Now add the tamarind extract, chilli powder and salt and mix well and continue to cook till most of the moisture evaporates
Time to add the jaggery and fenugreek powder.
Mix well. Switch off the flame and serve with some delicious Curd rice
