Chow Chow Thol Thogayal / Chayote peel chutney

Chow Chow curry and kootu is quite common and so is the use of its peel too. The peel can be prepared into a very spicy tasty chutney. Here is the simple recipe
Chow chow peel     1 cup
Blackgram dhal       1tbsp
Mustard                  less then 1/4 tsp
Asafoetida              a pinch
Green chillies          1-2
Tamarind                small gooseberry size or use 1/2 tsp of tamarind paste
Oil                          2 tsp
Salt                         to taste
Oil                         1tsp
Mustard                 1/2 tsp
Soak tamarind in 2 tsp of warm water
Heat a pan and saute the dhal and mustard till it turns a little brownish. Add the chillies and saute for 1 minute.
Transfer this to a mixer jar. Let it cool
Run the mixer for a minute so that the dhal is ground coarsely. Keep it aside
Now in the same pan add the peel and saute for 3-4 minutes till it begins to shrink
Now transfer this to the to the mixer jar. Add tamarind and salt. Grind everything till it becomes a smooth paste
Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds nad when it splutters pour this on the prepared thogayal or chutney
Perfect  combination would be ot rice , thogayal and some kootu
