Tava Pulao

Another street food from Mumbai straight to our palate in Chennai. Have I tasted this at Mumbai???Nope but heard from friends that it tastes very delicious  and the masala that is used for flavouring is the regular Pav bhaji masala. I was a little surprised but decided to try it anyway:-)

Rice                        1/2 cup(uncooked)
Green peas               2 tbsp(boiled)
Onion                       1 (Finely chopped)
Capsicum                  1/4 cup (chopped)
Tomato                     1/2 cup (chopped)
Chilli Garlic paste      1 tsp
Cumin seeds              1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder        a pinch
Chilli powder             1/4 tsp
Pav bhaji masala         1 tsp
Butter                         1 tbsp
Salt                            to taste

Soak the rice in water for 10 minutes
Drain it and cook it in 1 cup of water upto 3 whistles. Should not be mushy
Heat the butter in the Tava, add cumin seeds and when they sizzle, add the chilli garlic paste and saute for 1 minute.
Now add the onions and saute for another 1 minute in a low flame
Now add the capsicum, tomatoes, salt, turmeric powder, chilli powder, pav bhaji masala and mix well and saute for 2 minute.
Add 1 tbsp of water and continue to cook on a medium flame till the butter starts oozing out.
Now add the rice and green peas and mix well. Add the coriander, mix and cook on a low flame for another minute
