Litti

 Hi
Do any of you have the CHD????It is nothing but compulsive hoarding disorder??Sometimes it bothers me if I do have that..but then I reason out saying that, I don't hoard things but BUY because I will be using it..may be some day:-). Now ,Wiki might want to change the definition of CHD..haha..anyway coming back to my buying spree,I had bought this sattu flour which is nothing but roasted bengal gram flour and it found its use today!!!Now , you will agree that that I am not a CHD but a diligent buyer:-)
Litti  is a traditional snack of Bihar  that is usually served with chokha and if you are wondering as to why you are not able to see the side dish., that is because  the litti vanished before the chokha could be prepared. Thank god!!I clicked some without the chokha:-)

INGREDIENTS
FOR THE COVERING
Whole wheat flour       1 cup
Ajwain/Carom seeds    1tsp
Oil                               1tbsp
Salt                              1/2 tsp
Water                          just enough to knead
 FOR THE FILLING
Sattu flour                 1/2cup
Onion                        1
Green chilli                 1
Coriander                   2 tbsp
Amchur powder         1/4 tsp
Garlic                       1/4 tsp
Ginger                      1/4 tsp
Cumin seed powder  1/4 tsp
Salt                           to taste

PREPARATION
Preheat the oven to 200C
Cut the onion, ginger, garlic, chilli, and coriander finely
Mix the ingredients for the covering with very little water. Knead it into a smooth firm dough.Keep it covered till you prepare the filling
In a bowl add all the ingredients for filling. Do not add water as the water from the vegetables is enough to hold the sattu flour
Pinch small equal balls from the covering dough. Flatten it into a medium sized disc
Keep filling inside and close it to form a ball again. Lightly flatten it and place it on a greased tray. Brush them with butter.
Bake these at 200C for 25-30 minutes
Let it cool. Split in half, put a tsp of ghee and serve with chokha!!

Note: You can boil in water and then fried instead of baking!!
