For my last regional stop for BM#32 I am hopping over to GOA.Foogath is a simple dry curry similar to our poriyal and thoran.This can be prepared with cabbage as well.
Fresh beans 2 cups(Cut into small pieces)
Grated fresh coconut 3 tbsp
Oil 2 tsp
Mustard 1 tsp
Black gram dhal 1/2 tsp
Red chillies 3
Salt to taste
Cut the french beans into tiny bits
Cut the onion into small pieces
Wash and drain the beans.
Transfer this to a MICROWAVE SAFE bowl , Close it with a MICROWAVE SAFE LID/PLATE and cook in MICRO HIGH MODE for 5 minutes
Meanwhile heat the oil in a pan.
Add mustard seeds, when it splutters add the blackgram dhal and red chillies, saute for 1 minute
Now add the cut onion and continue to cook in medium flame till it turns transparent
Add the cooked beans to this, mix well, add salt and continue to cook for another 3-4 minutes
Sprinkle the fresh coconut, mix well. Switch off the fire..Delicious Foogath is ready!!
Alternatively you can cook the beans on the stove top as well.I find it easier to cook in a microwave
