Onion Samosa

 Hi
This week for the Blogging Marathon#31, I chose to cook with the theme of Mini Serving and the first post is a savoury snack Onion Samosa or Irani samosa. With the onion prices sky rocketing, one could cook these with ease at home and beat the inflation too:-)

INGREDIENTS
FOR THE OUTER COVERING
All purpose flour      1 cup
Oil                            1 tsp
Salt                           as needed
Water                        as needed
FOR THE FILLING
Aval/ Poha               1 cup
Onion                       2
Green chillies            1
Chilli powder            1 tsp
Chat masala              1/2 tsp
Cumin powder          1/2 tsp
Coriander                   2 tbsp
Salt                           as per taste

PREPARATION
In a big bowl mix the flour with salt and oil
Add the necessary amount of water and knead it into a smooth pliable dough
Let it rest for some time
In another bowl mix poha, cumin powder, chat masala, chilli powder, onion, green chillies, coriander and salt.Mix well
Pinch small marble sized balls from the dough
Make them into very thin chapathis.Cut into rectangular strips
Place a tawa on fire and cook these strips on both sides very lightly. Few seconds on both sides. Remove it from the tawa as soon as you see the bubbles appear
Now apply maida to one side of the strip and fold it as shown
Make it into a cone and put the filling in it
Seal it with the prepared maida paste
Make all the samosas the same way
Now heat the oil in the medium flate and once it is sufficiently hot fry few of the samosa at a time. When the start browning, flip it to the other side and fry again

Remove it from the hot oil with a perforated laddle and drain it on an absorbent paper
Serve hot
