Potaoes, tikkis, chat ...Ragda pattise will make any child smile for sure. The littl tangy, sweet taste, the different textures makes it all the more inviting and this is my entry for today's Blogging Marathon
INGREDIENT FOR THE PATTISE
Potatoes(cooked and mashed) 1 cup
Corn flour 1 tsp
Slat to taste
Oil 3-4 tbsp
Boil the potatoes, cool and mash thm. Add corn flour and salt and mix well.Make small balls from the potato mixture and flatten them a little. Shallow fry them till golden brown on both sides. Keep aside
INGREDIENT FOR RAGDA
Dried white peas 1/2 cup
Chilli powder 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
Tamaring paste 1 tbsp
Jaggery 1/2 tbsp
Asafoetida a pinch
Mustard seeds 1 tsp
Ginger chilli paste 1/2 tsp
Chilli powder 1tsp
Oil 1 tbsp
Soak the peas overnight. Drain next morning. Transfer this to a pressure cooker with water enough to soak it and cook it for 4-5 whistles.(let it not become nushy but should be well cooked)
Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds. When it crackles add asafoetida and all the dry powders. Saute for a minute.
Now add the cooked peas, tamarind paste,jaggery, salt and little water and cook till it starts thickening.Simmer for 5-7 minutes and switch off the heat.
Sev 1 cup
Sweet chutney 1/4 cup
Green chutney 1/4 cup
Onion (cut finely) 1/4 cup
Coriander 1/4 cup
Place 2 patties in a serving Plate and put 1/4 th of hot Hagda on it.
Now put 1 tbsp of sweet chutney and 2 tsp of green chutney , 1 tbsp of sev and cut onions.
Serve to your kid's delight
